Photocatalytic Degradation of 4-tert-butylphenol Using Solar Light Responsive Ag2CO3

In this work, Ag2CO3 was prepared via a solution-based method and further characterized by XRD, Raman spectroscopy, SEM/EDS analysis, UV-VIS spectroscopy. SEM results revealed the formation of micro-sized particles with rectangular shape. The photocatalytic activity catalyst evaluated in degradation 4-tert-butylphenol (4-t-BP) under simulated solar light irradiation. effects 4-t-BP initial concentration (2.5–10 ppm), dosage (100–300 mg/L), different types lamp sources, water matrix were investigated. Complete (5 ppm) achieved after 60 min (200 mg/L). effect anions such as CO32?, HCO3?, NO3?, Cl- range 100–300 mg/L also studied. CO32? promoted process, while HCO3? NO3? exhibited an inhibition effect, which marked increasing concentrations. presence Cl? at 100 increased degradation, but higher concentrations inhibited reaction. Cyclic experiments showed that practically retained its catalytic toward three successive experimental runs.
